FAQ
Cloud or this computer: which should I choose?
The cloud is quickest: sign in with Google, add your AI key, and go. This computer keeps everything on your machine, and works with a free local model through Ollama, but you run the broker yourself. You can switch in Settings at any time; each keeps its own chats.
Does the developer see my data?
In the cloud, your chats, memories and settings are stored in our service on AWS, and we only look at them to keep it running, fix a problem, or when you ask us for help. On your own computer, we receive nothing. See the privacy policy.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete my account. It deletes your chats, memories, settings, API keys and sign-in.
Why did my task stop after 15 minutes?
In the cloud, a task works for up to 15 minutes at a time. Say continue and it picks up where it left off.
Why does Chrome say "CopperOS started debugging this browser"?
That's how CopperOS reads pages and clicks and types reliably, through Chrome's debugging protocol. The banner appears once it starts working in a tab and stays until that tab is closed. Click Cancel on the banner to end it at any time; CopperOS reconnects the next time you give it a task in that tab.
Why does Chrome say CopperOS is "not trusted by Enhanced Safe Browsing"?
Chrome shows this, to people who have Enhanced Safe Browsing turned on, for extensions from developers who are new to the Chrome Web Store. It goes away once the developer has a few months' history. CopperOS's source is public on GitHub if you'd like to check what it does.
How do I stop it?
Press Stop on the task, or the stop button next to the text box.
Will it submit things without asking?
The pill next to Send decides, for each chat:
- Ask before every action: asks before every click and submit.
- Ask before submits (the default): asks before actions it treats as submitting or irreversible.
- Never ask: doesn't ask.
Ask before in Settings sets it for new chats. For anything important, use Ask before every action.
What is the supervisor?
On long tasks, a supervisor checks in every few steps: it compares what the agent is doing with what you asked and puts it back on track if it drifts. Press Supervisor next to Send, before sending a task, to give it rules of your own.
Which AI models work?
Any model that supports tool calling: through OpenRouter or OpenAI (cloud or this computer), or Ollama (this computer only). Models that also take images can use screenshots when a page is hard to read.
Is it free?
CopperOS is free and open source, and the cloud is free during the beta. You pay your AI provider for what the model uses; a local Ollama model costs nothing.
